Bathroom Renovation in Dubai
Waterproofing, plumbing, tiling and fittings for apartment and villa bathrooms, done in the right order by one licensed team.
What our bathroom renovation in Dubai covers
You find out whether a bathroom renovation in Dubai was done well about a year after handover. If the waterproofing under the tiles fails, or the extractor can't clear the steam, it shows up as a stain on the ceiling below or mould in the grout. So we spend most of the planning time on what you won't see: falls to the drain, the membrane, the pipework and the ventilation. The tiles, vanity, shower glass and lighting come after that. REDO does all of it with one team, from the survey to the final clean.
How a bathroom renovation works
- First call or WhatsApp. Tell us what you want to change and send a few photos.
- Survey and brief. We measure, look at the drains, the pipework and the extractor, and note any signs of past leaks.
- Design and estimate. You get a layout, a shortlist of tiles and fittings, a free estimate and a programme.
- Approvals. We confirm what your building or community needs before work is booked.
- Works and handover. Strip-out, plumbing and electrics, waterproofing before tiling, then tiling, fittings, glass and a final walk-through with you.
Approvals for a bathroom renovation
Changing a tap or a light fitting is small cosmetic work and usually needs no permit. Work that changes walls, partitions, plumbing or electrics needs approval before it starts. Changes to your electrical installation need DEWA's prior approval.
In an apartment, the building's management company sets its own rules for works, contractor access and working hours, so the bathroom job has to fit around them.
We check what applies to your home at the survey. Our guide to renovation permits in Dubai explains who approves what.
What affects the cost of a bathroom renovation
We price every bathroom from its own survey. These are the things that change the estimate:
- Moving the toilet or the shower drain means new waste runs and often a raised or cut floor.
- Old screed, hidden leaks or damaged pipework found during the strip-out add work.
- Large-format porcelain and natural stone cost more than standard ceramic and need more careful setting out.
- Concealed cisterns, thermostatic mixers and frameless glass each add to the total.
- Custom vanities and built-in storage cost more than standard units.
- New circuits, heated towel rails or a bigger extractor mean electrical work. Our electrical and plumbing team handles this work as part of the job.
After the survey you get a free estimate. For the wider picture, see how renovation costs are worked out in Dubai.
How long a bathroom renovation takes
Most bathroom renovations take 1–3 weeks. A like-for-like refit with the same layout is quicker. A full strip-out with a new layout, a walk-in shower conversion or custom joinery takes longer, because the waterproofing has to be complete before any tile goes down. You get the programme with the estimate. If you are renovating a kitchen at the same time, we plan both in one programme.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Dubai?
It depends on the size of the room, whether the layout changes, the tiles and fittings you pick, and what the strip-out reveals underneath. Plumbing and electrical changes add to it too. We don't work from a price list. After a survey we give you a free estimate for your bathroom.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
Most take 1–3 weeks. Same-layout refits are quicker. New layouts, shower conversions and custom vanities take longer. Your programme comes with the estimate.
Why does waterproofing matter so much?
A failed membrane leaks into the walls, the floor below or the neighbour's ceiling, and you usually find out only after the tiles are on. Waterproofing is what stops leaks, mould and moisture damage, so we treat it as the most important step in the job.
When is the waterproofing done?
We waterproof wet areas before tiling. The membrane goes on once the plumbing is complete, and tiling starts only after the waterproofing is finished, so the floor and the shower are sealed under the tiles.
Can you convert my bathtub into a walk-in shower?
Yes. We remove the bath, move or add the drain, build the shower floor with the right fall, waterproof it and fit the glass. In an apartment, moving the drain may need building approval, which we check at the survey.
Do apartment bathrooms need building management approval?
Yes. Your building's management company sets the rules for works, contractor access and working hours, and plumbing or electrical changes need approval before they start. Electrical changes also need DEWA's prior approval.
What ventilation does a bathroom need?
Enough to clear steam before it settles on walls and ceilings. In Dubai's humidity that usually means an extractor fan sized to the room and ducted out, not just a vent into the ceiling void. We check the existing fan and ducting at the survey and replace them if they can't keep up.
How do you protect the rest of my home during the work?
We cover floors and furniture along the route to the bathroom, keep the work area closed off as much as the layout allows, and remove debris as we go.
Is the work covered after handover?
Yes. You get a 1-year warranty on key installations, and the same team comes back if something needs attention.
