What our kitchen renovation in Dubai covers

Most of the work in a kitchen renovation in Dubai ends up hidden behind the cabinet doors. Water, drainage, power and extraction have to be in the right place before a single unit goes up, and in an apartment the building has its own rules about what you can move. REDO plans the layout with you, checks which approvals apply, then handles the strip-out, plumbing, electrics, cabinets, worktops and finishes with one team. You have one contact and one programme from start to finish. A full refit and a simple swap of doors and worktop both start the same way, with a survey and a free estimate.

    Layout and design

We measure the room, look at how you cook and store things, and draw a layout that works with the services you have or moves them where it makes sense.

    Cabinets and joinery

Base units, wall units, tall larders and fillers, built to the room. Our custom joinery team makes the pieces that off-the-shelf units can't fit.

    Worktops and splashbacks

Granite, quartz or marble worktops, templated after the cabinets are fixed, with a matching splashback in stone, tile or glass.

    Plumbing and electrics

New supply and waste runs for the sink and dishwasher, extra circuits for ovens and induction hobs, and sockets where you'll use them.

    Lighting and extraction

Ceiling lights, under-cabinet strips and task lighting over the worktop, plus a cooker hood ducted or recirculating to suit the building.

    Appliances

We fit freestanding and built-in appliances, including your existing ones where they can be housed in the new units.

    Floors, walls and paint

New floor tiles, wall tiling and a final coat of paint, so the room around the units is finished too.

    How a kitchen renovation works

    1. First call or WhatsApp. Tell us about the kitchen, send a few photos and book a visit.
    2. Survey and brief. We measure, check the existing plumbing, drainage and power, and talk through what you cook, how many people use the room and what storage you're missing.
    3. Design and estimate. You get a layout, a shortlist of finishes, a free estimate and a programme.
    4. Approvals. We confirm what your building or community needs before any work is booked.
    5. Works and handover. Strip-out, first-fix plumbing and electrics, walls and floors, cabinets, worktops and appliances, then a walk-through with you to close out any snags before handover.

    Approvals for a kitchen renovation

Replacing cabinet doors or repainting is cosmetic, and small jobs like that usually need no permit. Moving the sink, adding a circuit for an induction hob or taking out a wall is a different matter: work that changes walls, partitions, electrics or plumbing needs approval before it starts.

Changes to your electrical installation need DEWA's prior approval. In an apartment, the building's management company also sets rules for works, contractor access and working hours.

We check all of this at the survey, so the programme already allows for it. Our guide to renovation permits in Dubai explains who approves what.

What affects the cost of a kitchen renovation

We don't publish a price list. Two kitchens of the same size can be very different jobs, and these are the things that move the number:

    • Keeping the sink, hob and fridge where they are costs less than moving them.
    • Custom cabinetry is usually the biggest single item. Carcass material, door finish and hardware all count.
    • Worktops in quartz, granite and marble differ in material cost and in how much cutting and templating they need.
    • New plumbing runs, extra circuits and extraction ducting add work behind the units.
    • Built-in appliances need housings made to fit the exact model.
    • In a tower, lift bookings, working hours and protection of common areas shape how the job is planned.

After the survey you get a free estimate for your layout and finishes. For the wider picture, see how renovation costs are worked out in Dubai.

How long a kitchen renovation takes

Most kitchen renovations take 2–6 weeks. The shorter end is a refit on the same layout. The longer end covers custom cabinetry, moved plumbing or electrics, and materials with longer delivery times. We give you the programme with the estimate and agree it before work starts. Any approvals your building needs come before that window, so treat them as a separate step when you plan. If you're moving out for the works, or timing them around a tenancy or a holiday, tell us at the survey and we'll plan the sequence around your date where the building rules allow.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Dubai?

It depends on the size of the room, whether the layout changes, the cabinets and worktops you choose, and how much plumbing and electrical work is involved. Built-in appliances and building rules also play a part. We don't quote from a price list. After a survey we give you a free estimate for your kitchen.

How long does a kitchen renovation take?

Most take 2–6 weeks. A refit on the same layout sits at the shorter end. Custom cabinetry, moved plumbing or electrics, and slower material deliveries push it towards the longer end. You get the programme with your estimate.

Can I still use my kitchen during the renovation?

Not really. From the strip-out onwards you will have limited or no use of the kitchen until the worktops and appliances are back in. Plan a temporary set-up elsewhere in the home, such as a kettle, a microwave and a fridge, for the duration.

Can you fit my existing appliances?

Often, yes. We can fit existing appliances into new units if their size and connections suit the layout. We check each one at the survey and tell you which ones work and which would need replacing.

Do I need a permit to renovate my kitchen in Dubai?

Cosmetic work, such as new doors or paint, usually doesn't need one. Moving plumbing, changing electrics or removing a wall needs approval before work starts, and electrical changes need DEWA's prior approval. Apartment buildings also have their own rules for works. We check what applies to your home at the survey.

What is the biggest cost driver in a kitchen renovation?

Custom cabinetry, in most cases. Stone worktops, built-in appliances and layout changes that move the sink or hob come next.

Which worktop material suits a Dubai kitchen?

Quartz is non-porous and easy to keep clean. Granite handles heat well and suits busy kitchens. Marble looks good but is softer and marks more easily, so it needs more care. It helps to compare samples in your own kitchen light before you decide.

Is it worth renovating an older kitchen?

If the units are failing, the layout doesn't suit how you cook, or the plumbing and wiring are old, a renovation fixes all three at once. If the carcasses are sound and only the look has dated, new doors, a new worktop and better lighting may be enough. We'll tell you which one your kitchen needs after the survey.

Can you switch my kitchen from gas to electric?

Yes. Moving to an electric or induction hob usually means a new dedicated circuit, and changes to your electrical installation need DEWA's prior approval. We plan the circuit and the approval as part of the job.

What happens if something goes wrong after handover?

Your kitchen is covered by a 1-year warranty on key installations. Contact the same team that did the work and we'll arrange a visit.
